SHEPHERDING OUR FLOCK

VISTA UMC’S SHEPHERDS

“Keep watch over yourselves and all of the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. BE SHEPHERDS of the church of God.” Acts 20:28

Vista Church is reviving “Shepherding” from a few years ago to fill the need for visits to visitors, shut-in members, hospitalized or home bound due to illnesses, and the administration of the Rite of Communion, that has been consecrated by the Pastor, and telephone calls to church family.

As members of Vista church family, we need volunteers ready to consistently serve to meet these needs.

We know there are currently family church members who fulfill some of these needs; however, some church family members are not being adequately served.

We need to remember that our shut-ins have been active Vista members and have contributed greatly in the past for the success of the church. They now need our help to brighten their days and to help them feel that they are still a vital member of our church family.

Our Pastoral staff, Pastor Fred and Pastoral Assistant, Valerie simply do not have enough hours in their days to reach out to everyone. Our church family needs to support them while ministering to those in need.

Rodeo Sunday Lunch

Join us this Sunday, Feb. 16, for a boot-scootin’ good time! The Vista Youth are cookin’ up spuds for y’all right after the worship service. Donations will be accepted to help the Youth and Middle-Schoolers raise funds for this year’s mission trips and events. So pull on your boots, grab your cowboy hat and come on over!

WE ARE HOME!

Here we are, January 2020, and we are back in our own offices again! The new building was completed and we were able to move from our temporary offices into our brand new Education/Administration building! It is beautiful! We still have a few things to sort out, and put away, but we are so glad to be here. Our official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Sunday, Jan. 19 following the worship service. Be sure to join us!

Adopt-A-Family

Vista’s Youth and Children are adopting a family for Christmas 2019. This family consists of a single mom, ill grandmother, 11 yr old boy and 7 yr old girl. The 11 yr old boy would like: basketball, books, wallet, backpack (heavy duty, solid green). Clothes size 12-14 kids. The 7 yr old girl would like: LOL dolls (gold hair), girly things, hair bows, books. Clothes size 8-10. Both children have asked Santa for bikes. A boy’s bike has been donated, so perhaps a couple of families could go together to purchase a bike for the girl. For questions, please contact Valerie Hammons, 520-444-1991.

Vista’s Song of Joy Christmas Concert

Vista will host the Song of Joy Chorus Christmas Concert on Dec. 15 at 2 pm in the Vista Sanctuary. This very special chorus is composed of the short-term memory-impaired, their care givers and church support singers. Please join us for the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child, our short-term memory-impaired, their caregivers and music! BUILDING PROGRESS – COLOR!

OCTOBER 27 2019

Our new Administration and Education building is on schedule for completion by Wednesday 18 December and we are on budget. The building has a roof, including seven heating, ventilation, air conditioning units. The exterior walls have been wrapped in weather-proof material, insulated and two coats of man-made stucco have been applied. The overwhelming majority of interior ductwork and interior insulation has been installed and the electrical, plumbing and low voltage wiring is over 90% complete. As many of you saw with your own eyes during the walking tour on Sunday 27 October – progress is tangible and we are excited. The Building Committee is very thankful for the encouragement, love, prayers, good will and support from the Congregation helping us make your dreams come true. The next tour is scheduled for Sunday 24 November – we hope to see you all there.
